Police arrest suspect with rounds of ammunition in Nasarawa
On Friday, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command apprehended Hauwa Sani, a female suspect, for hiding 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil, along with a two-year-old child.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this information in a statement posted on X.com on Saturday. According to the statement, the suspect was also found in possession of ₦78,500 in cash and a mobile phone while attempting to smuggle the ammunition to Katsina State, her reported origin.
The statement noted: “On August 23, 2024, at approximately 17:10 hours, police operatives from the Keffi Division intercepted Hauwa Sani and the child in Doro village, Katsina State. The operation led to the recovery of 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, a Tecno mobile phone, and ₦78,500 in cash.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the ammunition was supplied to the suspect in Rafin Sanyi village, Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, and was concealed in the palm oil gallon while being transported to Katsina State before the arrest.”
Commissioner of Police Shehu Nadada has directed that the suspect and the seized items be transferred to the Force Intelligence Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
