Police arrest SSA, accomplice for diverting palliative in Kano

Kano State Police have apprehended Tasiu Al’amin-Roba, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Cabinet office, and his accomplice, Abdulkadir Muhammad, for their involvement in diverting the state’s palliatives.

The Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, confirmed the arrests during a telephone interview on Sunday.

The suspects were caught at a warehouse in Sharada, where they were repackaging rice and maize. Over 200 empty bags were found at the scene.

“We have since commenced intensive investigation to find out how many bags of maize or rice were repackaged and sold,” he said.

Gumel said that the two suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of discreet investigations.
