Two police officers attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Rivers State Police Command have been arrested and detained in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The arrest followed a complaint by a young man who alleged that he was extorted by police officers, Newsmen learnt.
The man had complained on Twitter and tagged the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Adejobi Olumuyiwa, who in turn tweeted and queried the Rivers State Police Command about why people in the state are still complaining about extortion and harassment, despite the warnings of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, responded to the tweet, confirming the arrest of the police officers.
