Police arrest 35 suspects in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has detained 35 individuals linked to a range of criminal activities in the past month.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa outlined that these crimes include kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, drug trafficking, and fraud.
The Public Relations Officer made this announcement on behalf of Commissioner of Police Mr. Salman Garba Dogo during a briefing at the State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.
In a press release, Haruna emphasised the command’s significant achievements in its ongoing fight against crime, highlighting that it apprehended at least 19 suspects along with various recoveries over the past month.
He mentioned in the statement that the command had apprehended 35 suspects involved in a range of crimes, such as armed robbery, kidnapping, theft, drug trafficking, and fraud.
The recovered items included stolen vehicles, solar batteries, mobile phones, and counterfeit currency.
“Some of the notable cases, including the arrest of five suspected armed robbers on August 12, linked to a robbery at Hotoro Quarters, Kano. A motor vehicle and a locally made gun were seized from them.
“On July 18, two individuals suspected of kidnapping were apprehended, leading to the rescue of two kidnapped victims from a remote forest in Gubuchi Village, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.”
The police spokesperson also reported that on August 27, five suspected thieves were apprehended in Warawa Local Government Area, with five solar batteries recovered from them.
“Additionally, on August 26, two armed robbers were arrested in Dorayi Quarters, Kano, where a sharp knife and a stolen mobile phone were recovered.
“Other cases involve the apprehension of suspected fraudsters, motorcycle thieves, and armed robbers, along with the recovery of stolen motor vehicles and counterfeit currency.”
Kiyawa also noted that on August 26, the command arrested three suspected drug dealers in Yan-tagwage Quarters, Kano. Authorities recovered 98 Exol tablets and a block of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
