Police arrest 3 suspected kidnappers in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of three individuals suspected of kidnapping, who extorted N3 million in ransom from a victim’s family. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests on Wednesday.

Hundeyin explained that on Tuesday around noon, the Isashi Police Division was alerted by a concerned citizen about a kidnapping incident. According to the report, some criminals were holding an unidentified person at Oke Moro in Isashi.

A police team was dispatched to the location, where they successfully rescued a 24-year-old male victim and apprehended the three suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had demanded a N2 million ransom, which the victim’s mother paid into two separate bank accounts. Additionally, the suspects stole N1 million from the victim’s bank account via mobile transfer.

The victim was also deprived of three Nigerian international passports and other valuables. Hundeyin noted that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to locate those who managed to escape the scene.
