Police arrest 18 suspects for various crimes in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects for various crimes within the state and recovered about 27 Arms and Ammunition.
In a press briefing held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Police Command Headquarters in Lafia, the Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, stated the remarkable achievements of the Nasarawa State Police Command in the ongoing battle against crime.
Mohammed disclosed that a total of 18 suspects were arrested in recent operations.

Mohammed disclosed that a total of 18 suspects were arrested in recent operations.
The breakdown of arrests includes; five suspected kidnappers, ten individuals linked to armed robbery, one rape suspect, and two individuals apprehended for culpable homicide.
One notable case involved the tragic death of Mohammed Sani in Agyaragu Tofa, where two suspects, Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the victim’s death on accusations of witchcraft.
The police further intercepted two motorcycle riders on Adudu-Azara road, leading to the arrest of eight individuals and the recovery of an AK 47 rifle and 26 rounds of ammunition.
On October 31, 2023, a rape suspect, Habu Yusuf, was arrested following a complaint lodged by Justina Samuel.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Habu Yusuf had also molested two of his elder brother’s children.
The acting Commissioner of Police also stated that in response to kidnap cases, Bala Salihu was apprehended on September 20, 2023, at a location designated for ransom collection.
On November 14, 2023, three armed men attacked a provision store in Doka Village, Doma LGA. The police, in collaboration with the community, pursued the criminals, leading to the recovery of an AK 47 rifle and ammunition.
The police also arrested Abdulmumini Abubakar and Ahmed Maisaje who confessed to their involvement in a kidnapping case in Deddere,
Mohammed expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and urged citizens to remain vigilant, saying that all suspects, upon the conclusion of investigations, will be charged to court for prosecution.
