Police arrest 17 hoodlums in Lagos

The Lagos state Police command, on Tuesday, that it has arrested 7 armed hoodlums who are attacking and harassing the general public in Lagos State.

He also said that the hoodlums were fond of using dangerous weapons to dispose the people of their belonging around Amosun, Zion, Sasi Iganmu area of Lagos State.

Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, Lagos commissioner of police, made this known in a statement, signed by the spokesman, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, and made available to Newsmen in Lagos.

Odumosu said that the hoodlums were arrested Orile Division on Monday, in a bid to eradicate cultism, hooliganism, and crimes in the state.

“The police has intensified efforts to neutralize various groups of deadly armed hoodlums, cultists and miscreants, who are fond of causing pains and agonies to innocent residents, especially Lagosian within the state.

He listed the suspected hoodlums arrested includes;

Afolabi Abeeb ‘m’ Age 18. Adeniyi Fawaz ‘m’ Age 18. Ezekiel Kehinde ‘m’ Age 18. Babatunde Toheeb ‘m’ Age 17. Olanrewaju Quadri ‘m’ Age 19. Sunday Okon ‘m’ Age   16. Muhammad Usman ‘m’ Age 17. Ayinla Teslim ‘m’     Age 18. Ayantanjua Daniel ‘m’ Age 17. Prince Ogungbemi ‘m’ Age 17. Open Semiu ‘m’ Age 18.  Abeeb Ajayi ‘m’ Age 14. Toheeb Lamidi ‘m’ Age 15. Israel Iyiyemi ‘m’ Age 14. Omokunla Tomola ‘m’ Age 16. Farouk Babatunde ‘m’ Age 20. Damilare Alabi ‘m’ Age 15.

Odumosu said that based on preliminary findings by the police, the hoodlums have not been linked to any existing cult groups in Lagos, but have various factions that foment troubles, engage in crimes, social vices, and free-for-all in the areas.

Furthermore, he emphasized his stance for zero tolerance for cultism and other social vices, ordered the suspects to be profile, investigated, and charged to court without any delay in order to nip their criminal potentials.

He assured the general public of the zeal of the police, under the amiable leadership, and in line with the ideological perspectives, of the inspector general of police to adopt modern and effective anti-crime strategies to provide adequate security for all and sundry in Nigeria, particularly, in Lagos.
