Police arraign two over alleged abduction of teenager

The police in Osun on Monday arraigned a man, Badmus Olaiya, and a woman, Rashidat Omidiran, for alleged abduction of a teenager.

Olaiya, 45, and Omidiran, 36, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, abduction and breach of the peace.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendants conspired and abducted the female teenager on Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at Garage-Olode, Ife South LGA of Osun.

Osanyintuyi added that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner  likely to breach public peace through the abduction.

Osanyintuyi said that the offences contravened Sections 225, 249(d) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.

The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the defendants  bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety in like sum.

Aluko ordered that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He added that the surety must be a civil servant and show evidence of three years’ tax payments to Osun Government.

Aluko adjourned the case until Jan 11, 2022 for mention
