PMAF backs FIRS Chairman reforms
The Policy Monitoring and Accountability Foundation (PMAF), a prominent group of policy analysts, business leaders, and civil society advocates, has expressed strong support for Dr Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and his leadership reforms.
During a meeting in Lagos, the group commended Adedeji’s contributions to enhancing tax administration, workforce development, and governance reforms. They highlighted his efforts to transform FIRS into a model institution for public service delivery.
PMAF Coordinator, Mr Kolawole Samson, described Adedeji as a forward-thinking leader who prioritises the welfare of Nigerians. “Dr Zacch has redefined what leadership means in public service. FIRS is no longer just a revenue agency – it is setting the standard for effective and people-centred governance,” he said.
The Foundation acknowledged his commitment to staff development, citing initiatives such as salary increases and merit-based promotions. Samson added, “He has fostered a workplace where employees feel valued, which is reflected in the enthusiasm we see from staff.”
On the agency’s performance, the group noted that FIRS has already generated N18.5 trillion in revenue, a significant step towards meeting its N19.4 trillion target. They attributed this achievement to Adedeji’s focus on efficiency and accountability.
The PMAF also praised his efforts to ensure equitable revenue allocation through the Tax Reform Bill, describing it as a solution to regional imbalances and a step towards fairness for all Nigerians.
In conclusion, the group urged other government agencies to adopt Adedeji’s results-oriented approach, calling his leadership a benchmark for success in the public sector.
