Plateau: Troops arrest five gunrunners, seize weapons

Troops of Operation Safe Haven have arrested five notorious gunrunners and recovered arms and ammunition during an intelligence-driven operation in Plateau State.
In a statement posted on its official X, formerly Twitter, account on Tuesday, the Nigerian Army reported that the operation began at midnight on September 16 and continued into the early hours of September 17.
According to the statement, the troops raided the hideout of a gunrunner named Mohammed Sani at Naraguta Mining Area in Bayameni, along Bauchi Road in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.
During the operation, Mohammed Sani and four other individuals were arrested.
The troops recovered several weapons and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, one Fabrique Nationale automatic rifle, 14 AK-47 magazines, one Fabrique Nationale magazine, 5,316 rounds of 7.62mm (special), 98 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), and 43 rounds of 9mm.
The Army also disclosed that the suspects are currently being interrogated to gather valuable intelligence for apprehending other members of the syndicate.
