Plateau killings: Muftwang challenges security agencies to be responsive, drop excuses

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Muftwang has challenged security agencies in the state to be responsive and do away with excuses.

Lamenting how the security forces are sluggish and unable to quell the attacks in the state, Muftwang in a video message posted on his twitter page,  said it was true that security agencies had not responded at all when called upon or were sluggish but premised it on genuine complaints of the terrains and logistics.

This comes following an attack by unidentified gunmen that led to the death of no less than 80 people in Bokkos and Barkin Local Government Areas of Plateau State on Christmas eve.

The Governor, however, harped on the need to improve on the operational capacity of these security agencies so they can be proactive and respond on time.

Earlier, Vice President Kashim Shettima who paid a visit to Plateau commiserated with families of those that lost their lives, persons that were injured and displaced residents, while assuring them of the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government to ensure peace and security across the country.

The Vice President informed the people about how heart-broken his principal, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had been since he received news of the gory incident, saying the president “is deeply shaken by this tragedy and shares in this unspeakable sorrow that has shattered the joy of Christmas across the country.”

“When one community bleeds, the entire nation feels the pain. The pain we feel now transcends ethnicity or religion, geography or politics. The grief that binds us is a testament to our shared humanity, not differences,” he added.

Identifying with the grieving families who lost loved ones in the attack, the Vice President acknowledged the fact that it is an indescribable nightmare to bury families, describing it as a rare experience that is much more unbearable than the pain of losing one or two loved ones.
