Plateau Crisis: Lalong imposes 24 hours curfew in Jos North

By Gloria Akudoro, Abuja.

Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong on Sunday gave an immediate directive to kickstart a 24-hours curfew in Jos North to contain security threat in the community.

The Governor gave this directive in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to Plateau State Governor, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, hours after announcing a dusk to dawn curfew in three Local Government Area of Jos North, Jos South and Nassau, noting that the 24- hours imposition takes effect from 2pm on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

He said this is necessitated by security reports which indicate rising threat to the safety of lives and properties within the Local Government.

“The 24 hour curfew in Jos North Local Government will remain in force until further notice”, he said.

The Governor therefore urges citizens to abide by the curfew and remain indoors to allow security agencies maintain law and order and deal with those bent on causing chaos.

Again, citizens are to note that the 24 hour curfew in Jos North will take effect from 2pm today 15th August 2021.
