Plateau board warns against diversion of treated water for irrigation
The Plateau Water Board has warned residents of the state to desist from diverting treated water for irrigation, car wash business and other unwholesome activities.
Mr Nangor Ndam, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the board, gave the warning in a statement on Wednesday in Jos.
According to Ndam, the board supplies the treated water basically to residents for consumption and domestic uses.
He warned that anyone caught in the act would be made to face the full wrath of the law, adding that the act is illegal.
“We have observed with dismay the rate at which treated water is being diverted for dry season farming and car wash business in the state.
“The board is warning those who engage in this illegal diversion to stop forthwith or be made to face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
Ndam called on residents to report any illegal diversion of water to the board.
