PH Refinery revamp: Former NNPC Chiefs applaud management, hail revamp as significant achievement
Former Group Managing Directors (GMDs) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) have expressed their admiration for the current management team, led by Mr. Mele Kyari, following the successful rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery. After conducting an on-site inspection of the facility, the former leaders described the transformation as nothing short of “magic.”
The former GMDs were in Port Harcourt for their regular Former NNPC GCEOs Forum and seized the opportunity to tour the refinery on Wednesday, assessing its progress and offering their feedback.
Among the visiting former leaders were Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki, Chamberlain Oyibo, Funsho Kupolokun, and Andrew Yakubu. They commended the bold steps taken by the current management team to modernise the refinery, which was originally built in 1965, highlighting the scale and significance of the achievement.
The leaders emphasised that the successful rehabilitation is a milestone in the long-awaited efforts to revitalise Nigeria’s ageing oil infrastructure and improve the country’s refining capacity.
