Petr Cech reacts as Chelsea coach leaves Stamford Bridge for new club

Chelsea legend, Petr Cech has reacted to the departure of the club’s assistant coach, Joe Edwards.

Cech said that Chelsea would ‘miss’ Edwards after new Everton manager Frank Lampard took the highly-rated coach to Goodison Park this week.

Recall that Chelsea had on Monday confirmed that Edwards had made a move to Everton, ending a 27-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

Edwards joined Chelsea’s academy almost 30 years ago.

He worked his way through various coaching positions at Stamford Bridge after failing to make the grade as a player.

Reacting, Cech told Chelsea’s official website: “Joe has been Chelsea through and through for many years, since his time in the academy.

“He had huge success there as a coach before joining the senior team with Frank and becoming part of Thomas Tuchel’s coaching staff, with more huge success.

“On behalf of everyone here, I want to say thank you to Joe for all he’s done for Chelsea and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.

“Obviously, we will miss Joe, but we wish him all the best in this new chapter of his career and hope it all works out well for him.”
