PDP praises Police for their withdrawalduring the Rivers LG poll

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has stated that any attempt to proceed with local government elections in the state would incite violence.

Speaking during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday, State Chairman of the PDP, Aaron Chukwuemeka, reiterated that the PDP would not participate in the election.

Chukwuemeka praised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for withholding the voters’ register from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, describing the development as a major setback for the election process.

He also commended the Nigeria Police for refusing to participate in the election.

The PDP chairman urged the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, a fellow PDP member, to halt ongoing plans to conduct the elections.
