PDP crisis deepens as two factional party Chairs emerge

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new dimension as the party now has two persons laying claim of the National Chairmanship of the party.

The Deputy National Chairman South,Elder Yemi Akinwonmi and the Deputy Chairman North Suleiman Nazif both Claims to be National Chairman of the party Pending the Determination Of the lawsuit against the embattled National Chairman, prince Uche Secondus .

The Suleiman Nazif Led Faction has  gone ahead to Slate a National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting For Friday.

A Rivers High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has on Monday granted an order of interim injunction stopping Prince Uche Secondus from parading himself as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The order was made following a suit filed against Secondus and the PDP by some members of the party identified as Ibeawuchi Ernest Alex, Dennis Nna Amadi, Emmanuel Stephen and Umezirike Onucha.

The order, which was granted by Justice O. Gbasah, directed Secondus to stop parading himself as a member of the PDP (the second defendant).

Justice Gbasah further restrained Secondus from attending or presiding over any meeting of the PDP or any committee of the party at ward, local government or state government.

The court also barred Secondus from calling for any ward, local government or sate congress or setting up committees for such congresses or participating in any activity of the PDP whatsoever while on suspension as a member of PDP.

The embattled National Chairman is said to have been suspended by his ward of which the suspension was ratified by Andoni LGA chapter, where he hails from.

The suspension was also ratified by the Rivers State Executive Committee of PDP, these Nigerian Newsdirect learnt is the basis of the court order.

A Chieftain of the Party, Dr. A B C Nwosu speaking with our correspondent on the development described it as one of the process that a political party has to undergo to be more stronger and prepared for the battle ahead.

Dr. Nwosu who is an aspirant for the National youth leader of the party said the party will come back formidable but called on all and sundry to bury their hatchets .
