Following the dissolution of the Ebonyi State Exco of Peoples Democratic  Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has constituted a state caretaker  committee to pilot the affairs of the party in the  state According to a press statement released by the National publicity secretary of the party, Kola Ologbodiyan. The action is in line with the party’s constitution after the dissolution of the State exco of the party.Members of the Ebonyi state caretaker committee are;  Hon. Fred Udeogu  as the Chairman and  Barr. Luke Nkwegu as the secretary. Other members of the caretaker committee include Dr. Gideon Osi  as the Publicity Secretary,  Hon. James Alaka as the Organizing Secretary,  Mrs. Amaka Igboke  as the       Women Leader,   Barr Mudi Irenede as the  Legal Adviser and Barr. Ibeshi  as the Youth LeaderHowever, the Chairman of the dissolved Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Ebonyi state chapter, chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi has described as madness in the highest order the dissolution of  Ebonyi state, LG and ward Executive committee of the party by the National Working Committee of PDP. Nwebonyi said that it is laughable to think that the NWC would just get up and dissolve a state Executive stressing that the action of the NWC is illegal and baseless. The Chairman who made this known in a press conference at the party Secretariat said his executive committee is in charge of the party in Ebonyi for the next four years having been elected for a four year term. He noted that the tenure of his executive committee will elapse in 2024 and that nobody has the power to dissolve Ebonyi states Executive committee.Nwebonyi lamented that instead of National the leadership of PDP to pay attention to the issues raised and their demand of zoning the presidential ticket to the south east, the NWC focused on Governor Umahi contemplated defection to APC.He maintained that it is against the party’s constitution for the NWC to dissolve all elected executive of the party in a state because the governor defects from the party stressing that they were duely elected in line with the party’s constitution.Nwebonyi stated that his executive committee will not accept what he described as purported caretaker committee set up by the PDP National working Committee and that they will challenge it in the court.”It is laughable to think that NWC would just get up and dissolve a state Executive committee because the governor or few individuals wants to leave the party””We are in charge of the party in Ebonyi state for the next years having been duely elected for four year term recently””Our tenure will elapse in 2024 and nobody has the power to dissolve the state Executive.” It therefore goes against the party’s constitution for the NWC to dissolve all elected executive of the party in a state because the governor defects from the party “, Nwebonyi stated.
