Payment of N77,000 allowance to commence in March — NYSC DG

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has announced that all Corps Members will receive an increased monthly allowance of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira, effective from March 2025.

Speaking on the development, he reaffirmed that both the NYSC management and the Federal Government remain committed to the welfare of Corps Members and will continue to prioritise their well-being.

The Director General made this disclosure during an interactive session with Corps Members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Addressing the Corps Members, General Nafiu commended them for their dedicated service to the nation and urged them to remain calm, diligent, and disciplined throughout their service year.

He expressed his appreciation for the visionary efforts of the founding fathers of the NYSC and encouraged all stakeholders to continue supporting and strengthening the Scheme.

General Nafiu described the NYSC as a unique programme that fosters national unity by providing young graduates with the opportunity to experience and appreciate diverse cultural values beyond their places of birth.

Furthermore, he assured the Corps Members that the NYSC management would consistently instil the principles of patriotism, discipline, integrity, leadership, and teamwork in successive batches.

The Director General reassured Corps Members of the Scheme’s efficiency in record-keeping and guaranteed that the increased allowance would be paid on time.

“From March onwards, your monthly allowance will be increased to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira. I can assure you that NYSC maintains accurate records, and your entitlements will be duly paid. Both the nation and the Scheme appreciate your dedication,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of her colleagues at the Garki Zone, Corps Member Zaka Deborah Alheri (FC/24A/5831) expressed gratitude to the Director General for his commitment to ensuring the implementation of the increased allowance.

She commended his dedicated efforts and reiterated the Corps Members’ appreciation for the continuous support from the NYSC leadership.
