Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, believes the Red Devils should look to sign PSV’s Cody Gakpo or RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku to replace forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Man United recently terminated Ronaldo’s contract on mutual terms.
The Premier League giants are now looking to bring in Ronaldo’s replacement in January or next summer.
But Scholes believes that a new centre-forward is a priority as striker Marcus Rashford is most effective playing out wide in the attack line.
“I think there is a couple of forwards they might look at,” Scholes told MUTV’s The Debate.
“The kid at RB Leipzig that has been linked with Chelsea, Nkunku. Centre forward is obviously the big position that needs filling.”
He added: “The lad at PSV – [Cody] Gakpo – is doing really well for the Netherlands at the World Cup, and I think [Erik] Ten Hag has been really interested in him before.
“There are players out there for sure. January can be a tough window to do business, but I hope we can do something and bring in a new centre forward.”
