Paris 2024 Qualifier: What Super Falcons must avoid against South Africa – Waldrum

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum has said the team must be focused for the entire duration of their 2024 Olympics Qualifying encounters against South Africa.

The former African champions went through three days of rigorous training exercise ahead of the first leg clash billed for the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The Super Falcons dominated the opening exchanges of their second-round fixture against Cameroon in Abuja in February but nearly conceded in the last 20 minutes of the game after losing concentration.

Reflecting on that game, Waldrum said it was important for the Super Falcons to maintain their discipline until the end against Banyana Banyana.

“The last 20 minutes of that match we kinda just hung in,” Waldrum told a press conference.

“It opened up a few opportunities (for Cameroon) in the game. So it’s just one of those things we have to try and get the team to play the full 90 minutes and 120 if it takes that.

“You can’t relax at this level and face this kind of competition because it just takes one opportunity.

“It’s something we have to try and improve on in every match. And that is one thing as we left the match, we talked about the last 20 minutes not being good enough in that match.”
