Oyo tenant arrested for flogging her landlord

The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan has detained 30-year-old Temitope Adedeji on Thursday for allegedly whipping her landlord and his wife.

Adedeji, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

According to the Prosecution Counsel, Phillip Amusan who told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Tuesday at about 6. 40 p.m, at Ajinde Area Ire-Akari, Ibadan

The prosecuting counsel alleged that the accused assaulted Dasola and her husband Olumuyiwa Balogun by flogging them.

Amusan also alleged that the defendant, who is also a tenant, living in the complainant’s house, locked the couples’ shop before he began to flog them.

According to him, the manner at which the defendant conducted herself is likely to cause breach of peace.

Amusan said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 351 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 31 for hearing.
