Oyo Govt shuts down six health facilities

Oyo State government has shut down six health facilities for engaging in illicit practices.

The facilities faced closure for a range of offenses, including employing unqualified staff to provide medical services and participating in activities that violate health regulations.

The facilities affected by the closures in the recent crackdown include New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Omolara Clinic & Maternity, Amazing Grace Medical Clinic, Emiloju Clinic and Maternity Centre Ogbere, Safeway Clinic Gbaremu, and Emilagba Clinic and Maternity Centre, all situated in Ibadan.

The Chairman of the State Antiquackery Task Force Committee, Dr. Adekunle Aremu, led an inspection and monitoring exercise in the Ibadan metropolis that resulted in the closure of these health facilities.

He emphasised that the government’s actions were aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of the state’s residents.

Dr. Aremu reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance towards quackery and substandard practices in the health sector, warning that those found guilty would be dalt with according to the law.

mphasising the importance of seeking medical assistance from accredited and licensed health facilities with qualified staff, Dr. Aremu called on healthcare workers to uphold the highest ethical standards.

He also urged residents to support the government’s efforts in delivering quality and affordable healthcare services to the populace.

He said, “The goals remain clear, Oyo State government is dedicated to upholding rigorous standards and prioritizing the health and safety of every resident.

“The government ensures that healthcare services consistently meet the highest benchmarks for quality and safety, so citizens can trust their well-being.”
