Oyo govt. assures of fishing out those who attacked Gbepakan village

The Oyo State Government on Friday in Ibadan assured that it would fish out those who attacked the inhabitants of Gbepakan Village in the state’s Saki West Local Government Area.

He said reports had it that about 10 residents were killed by the yet-to-be-identified attackers who invaded the village on Tuesday night.

Olanrewaju disclosed that the state’s acting governor, Mr Bayo Lawal, led the state government delegation on an assessment visit to the village on Thursday.

“During the visit, he commiserated with the victims’ families.

“Lawal, during the visit, also assured the villagers that government would bring the perpetrators to book and provide all necessary logistics to aid security agencies’ investigations into the incident.

“He (Lawal) said the Makinde administration would not relent in securing lives and property within the state, adding that government has always shown commitment to security issues.”

The CPS added that Lawal assured that government would protect its various communities and ensure that no man is oppressed, irrespective of his ethnicity or religion.

He disclosed that the acting governor promised to cater for the needs of the injured ones through the provision of some materials.

“We will not allow crime to take roots in any part of the state. Only yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ayodele Sonubi, paid a visit to assess the situation here.

“And we have seen that some people actually invaded this hamlet and carried out this dastardly act.

“Investigations are ongoing but the purpose of this visit is to give assurance to our people.

“We will get to the root of the incident and whoever is caught will face the wrath of the law,” Lawal was quoted as saying.
