Oyo APC: C’ttee has concluded statutory responsibility on congress — Lawan

The Committee Chairman of just concluded Congress of Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC), Gambo Lawan has said the Committee has concluded what the National Headquarters of APC under the caretaker chairmanship Governor Mai Buni expected of the Committee.

He said the responsibility given to the Committee was to conduct the State Congress, which the Committee has done in accordance with the provisions of the Party’s Constitution.

And this according to Lawan has been concluded and the report has been submitted to the National Headquarters of the Party.

He maintained the Congress was conducted in the presence of all the relevant stakeholders such as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Security Agents, Observers and the media.

Lawan disclosed this  while speaking with journalists after the Abuja reconciliation meeting on Thursday.

He maintained that the Congress stays but it is now a matter of gives and takes, where harmonization will take place.

Gambo affirmed that Thursday’s meeting in Abuja was for reconciliation and harmonization but nothing like another Congress.

He said the National body has discussed with stakeholders on how they should be united and work together towards 2023 general elections.

According to Gambo, “The meeting is just for reconciliation or harmonization, nothing like fresh Congress. The APC is one big family and will continue to be.

“What was discussed is how all the groups, leaders and other stakeholders would work together to depose the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

“The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Buni only called this meeting to iron out all the issues.

“Nothing like new Congress, the Saturday 30th Congress stays, it was monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant agencies. This is a family affair and the process of amicable resolution has commenced.”
