Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun-Boripe-Odo Otin Federal Constituency have commenced strategic consultation across the constituency’s three Local Government Areas to strengthen the party’s campaign at the grassroots towards the re-election of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the July 16 gubernatorial election.
The consultation, which was organised by the IBO Federal constituency’s Campaign Committee, commenced in Aagba on Thursday, before moving to Ororuwo and Ada in Boripe Local Government.
Speaking at the flag-off of the consultation, the Chairman of the IBO Federal Constituency Campaign Committee, Chief Adepoju Odusola, said the essence of the visitation was to interface with ward and unit executives and canvassers who will in turn implement the house-to-house strategy.
He also harped on collection of Permanent Voter’s Card for new and old/existing (reissued) registrants across the constituency, saying it is what gives constituents the power to exercise their choice for good leadership.
According to him, “We are on a campaign visitation to Units in the various Wards under our Federal constituency. We have 38 Wards in this Federal constituency, and we are having an engagement tour around the units beginning from today.
“We are interfacing with our unit executives and the canvassers in each of the units. So, this is more like a grassroot mobilisation strategy for the re-election of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. This is a micro level campaign by foot soldiers in the constituency, different from the macro level train led by the Governor.
“Charity must begin from home and that is why we are leading by example with our grassroot mobilisation for Governor Oyetola’s re-election. The Governor has done well especially for this constituency. Even in the core suburbs, Aagba to Ororuwo to Ada and to the many other wards we will be visiting, Oyetola has constructed roads and implemented many other projects that has made life easy for the people,” Odusola said.
Former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Wale Afolabi, described the consultation as an opportunity to train the mobilisers.
In his words, “We are here to mobilise the people of Ifelodun-Boripe-Odo Otin Federal constituency to re-elect our Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, and we are doing it in style this time around.
“In each polling unit, we have monitors. So, what we are doing now is to sensitise these monitors on what they should know and what they should be doing, even as they go further down the structure to mobilise for Governor Oyetola.
“As we approach the election in a matter of days, the people deserve to know the great things Oyetola has done in the state and the need for him to be reelected, because he is qualified for reelection on the strength of his performance.
“His works in infrastructure, education, health care, and workers welfare especially through the payment of regular salaries, are part of the numerous things the people should know or be reminded of,” Afolabi said.
Also speaking at the strategic tour, former Member representing Ifelodun-Boripe-Odo Otin in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adeyinka Ajayi, lauded Governor Oyetola for his outstanding performances across every sector which has made it easy to campaign for him.
“The tour is intended to continue to galvanise the unit executives and the canvassers of the party, to prepare them for the work that we need to do, to check on them to see how far they have gone with the house-to-house campaign, and to generally get a feedback on challenges and areas needing improvement towards the reelection of Governor Oyetola.
“By this devolution of campaign and mobilisation efforts to the grassroots, we are hoping to be able to appraise what the disposition of ordinary voters in the nooks and crannies of the constituency is. We are the evangelists of the governor in the interior.
“Based on the efforts and the disposition of Governor Oyetola, there is no contest. He is calm, focused, consults widely, and if you go round the state, he has done so well across many sectors. Why then do we want to upset a system that is steady? Governor Oyetola has made it an easy task to market him to citizens of the state, and that we will continue to do until his reelection is achieved,” he said.
