Oyetola’s action on Covid-19 containment impressive – Akire of Ikire
…As compliance with preventive guidelines gain prominence
Osun state Governor, Alh. Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola has been lauded for his proactive response towards the surge of Covid-19 second wave.
The Akire Ikire, HRM Oba Olatunde Falabi stated this on Thursday when the team of Osun Civic Engagement team led by Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye paid him an homage at his palace after the public sensitization program on Covid-19, held at Olufi market, Gbongan, Ayedaade LG and Obada market, Ikire, Irewole LG.
He said the efforts of the governor have yielded positively, thereby reducing Covid-19 mortality rate to the bearest minimum in the state.
“We commend our governor for his swift and wonderful initiative on Covid-19 campaign every moment, because he has never taken the fight lightly since the advent of the first phase.
The monarch however charged the residents of the town, especially the market men and women to always keep to the preventive measures, noting that it remains the only means through which the spread of the noble virus could be reduced.
Speaking at the program, the Special Adviser to Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye expressed satisfaction over the level of compliance with Covid-19 protocols in the markets, he further charged the citizens of the state, most especially those living in populated place to see all the laid down protocols as compulsory.
“The level of compliance with Covid-19 guidelines we met at the markets today is impressive and this has shown that people at our markets are already complementing the efforts of the campaign in the containment of the pandemic.
“We will continue to Ring the Bell on public awareness that we must desist from violating the rules and guidelines that have to do with the already laid down protocols.
The special adviser however warned the danger of defying the safety measures, adding that the second wave of the pandemic is deadlier than the first phase.
In the separate remarks, the Babaloja of Ikire land, Chief Agbaje Adegboyega and Iyaloja of Ikire Chif Adetominwa Musfat emphasized the need for the market men and women take responsibility in the fight against Covid-19, noting that influx of the people in the market areas made necessary for them to obey the safety protocols.
Earlier in her remarks at Olufi market, Gbongan, Ayedaade LG, the special adviser to the governor on Commerce, Trade and Industry, Hon. Christianah Oyehan Ogunfolaju urged the market leaders to take enlightenment and advocacy role and to as a matter of duty, put in place preventive mechanisms in the markets for strict compliance with the laid down guidelines.
Equally speaking, the Babaloja of Olufi market, Gbongan Chief Mustapha Babayemi and Iyaloja of Olufi market, Chief Adewale Temilade beseeched the market men and women on the need to take Covid-19 guidelines seriously, urging them to imbibe the culture of wearing facemasks and washing of hands.
