The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellence, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola is set to join other participants at the Nigerian NewsDirect 14th year anniversary lecture and NewsDirect Good Governance Awards on Friday.
The prestigious event will take place on December 6, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel in Lekki, Lagos.
This year’s theme, “Achieving Economic Prosperity: The Role of Human Capacity Development, Fiscal Prudence, and Revenue Generation,” will spotlight key issues in governance and economic development.
Recall that Adegboyega Oyetola, was made Nigerian NewsDirect Newspaper’s Man and Best Governor of the Year 2021 respectively, by the newspaper organization.
Also, Minister of Power, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen Buba Marwa among others have confirmed their participation too.
Chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru is also slated to be present at the 14th Anniversary Lecture and Awards Ceremony being the Chairman of this year’s edition
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola is set to receive the Award of Exemplary Leadership in Public Service in Nigeria.
He will join other distinguished guests for an evening dedicated to celebrating excellence in governance, industry, and philanthropy.
Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola CON is a Nigerian politician who is the current minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
Since his appointment as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, he shared so many reforms in shaping the sector.
He served as governor of Osun State from 2018 to 2022.
He was appointed minister of transportation by President Bola Tinubu on 16 August 2023, but redeployed four days later to the newly created Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
Adegboyega Oyetola was born in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of present day Osun State on 29 September 1954. He started his secondary education at Ifeoluwa Grammar School, Osogbo and graduated in 1972.[7]
Oyetola proceeded to the University of Lagos and graduated with a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Insurance in 1978.
He proceeded for his mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps in Potiskum, Yobe State, where he lectured at the Staff Training Centre between 1978 and 1979.
He obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Lagos in 1990.
He is married to Kafayat Oyetola, they met in Kaduna while she was on a visit. They got married years later and have four children; three daughters and a son.
