Oyetola lauds Osun NSCDC over cordiality between herdsmen and farmers

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has commended the efforts of the officers of the state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The governor expressed his delight with the continued peaceful co-existence between farmers and herdsmen in the state over the years.
He made this known at a day sensitisation programme organised for all stakeholders in the Agricultural Sector of Osun.
Oyetola who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Dr Charles Diji Akinola maintained that the present security situation of the country is worrisome.
According to him, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, Rape, Ritual killings and other criminal tendencies are on the high side in different parts of the country
He, however, commended the good initiatives put in place by the Osun NSCDC command aimed at further propelling cordiality between farmers and herdsmen in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Olajide Adeyeye, stressed the urgent need for security agencies in the country to synergise their operations to collectively fight criminals activities in Nigeria.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Adedayo Adewole observed that it is natural for the State to occasionally have security challenges but must be managed in such a way as to avoid any form of clash among citizens and residents.
Hon Adewole who was represented by the Director of Produce, Mr Gbenga Olowoporoku appealed to the farmers and herdsmen in Osun to continue to work together in unity.
On his part, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdulkadir Sulu, maintained that Nigeria is currently facing a plethora of security challenges that are weighing heavily on the developmental efforts of the government at both the federal and state levels.
