Oyetola is committed to agric reforms, farmers’ welfare – Egbemode

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation in the State of Osun,  Mrs Funke Egbemode, has restated the commitment of the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola-led administration to agriculture reforms in the State.

Egbemode stated this while addressing the people of Igede community in Ijabe, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, during their meeting at the weekend

In her remarks to the community members, who are predominantly farmers from the North Central states but have lived in  Ijabe for about half a century, Egbemode emphasised the commitment of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to seeing agriculture thrive in the state and farmers also prospering.

She said: “The current administration in the State is one that is particularly interested in agriculture and has identified it as one of its economic diversification models.

“This government is very much interested in moving farmers, which include you, from just being agricultural practitioners to people who are must benefit from agribusiness.

“Governor Oyetola wants to spread the goodness of his agricultural plans and policies to you too, and that will require a readiness on your part to tap into the various programmes that the government will be floating from time to time”, Egbemode stated.

She also expressed the government’s delight with the way the group had conducted themselves over the years as peaceful residents in the State.

She continued: “This solidarity and familiarisation occasion is indeed a delightful one, and it is one we will love to sustain.

“The government is proud of the way and manner you have conducted yourselves over the years. As you have seen, we are a peaceful and welcoming people here, and we trust that you will continue to find fulfilment here”, Egbemode added.

In his remarks, the community leader,  Mr Agaba John, appreciated the government for identifying with the group, adding that it was the first time any official from the State would identify with them.

He added: “We have lived here for many years and prospered here. So, we also are ready to reciprocate the goodwill we have enjoyed in this place by supporting the government towards achieving its aims.

“We also wish to appeal to the government for assistance in the areas of land clearing, giving of seeds and seedlings, fertilisers, pesticides and sprayers. Assistance in this regard will further help our cause”, he stated.
