Oyetola affirms commitment to accessible health system for social equality, development

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has stated that his administration would not relent in building accessible healthcare system for the residents.

Oyetola said that ensuring the general wellbeing and welfare of the people remains a cardinal programme of his government.

The Governor disclosed this through his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye during a rural engagement program which held in Owode, Abere, Adejuwon, Elere and other villages of Ede North Local Government area of the State.

Speaking further, Oyetola emphasised that the best of healthcare system which every government should provide, is the one which is accessible and affordable to the masses irrespective of their social, economic and political status.

Oyetola further explained that that was the reason his administration has given good attention to the sector since its inception.

He said “in a bid to give proximate opportunities to the people at grassroots to have unhindered access to quality healthcare delivery, our administration has ensured the rehabilitation, revitalization, renovation and upgrading of 332 focal Primary Healthcare Centres across the wards of the state with 321 completed and 11 ongoing. These are with motorized borehole systems to serve as an advantage to the host communities.

“We have also upgraded and rehabilitated several comprehensive health centres and general hospitals across the state so as to give adequate healthcare delivery at the local communities.

“The Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro has also got rapt attention with the constructions of 30 units of Doctors’ quarters, 120-bed ward as well as the renovation of major complexes, wards and laboratories, as this is in addition to series of interventions given to the State Teaching Hospital.

“The current administration has also procured and distributed 50million worth of drugs across the State Primary Healthcare facilities as well as several new beds to all health facilities across the state among other necessary equipment needed for the smooth running of the healthcare system.

“For social equality in accessing quality healthcare delivery, about 300,000 enrollees have been enlisted in the State Social Health Insurance Scheme with unhindered access to 432 public and private hospitals across the state,” the Governor said.

Oyetola however said, the current administration has improved the State Healthcare Facilities, but also the welfare of the state health workers through adequate remuneration, noting that the massive investment in the state health sector is to close inequality gap and engender social development.

Earlier in his remarks, the Olu of Owo-Ede, Oba Nurein Ajibola has commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for giving an unprecedented facelift to the state health sector and specifically eulogizing him for giving each community a functional healthcare centre through the revitalization of 332 focal Primary Healthcare Centres across the State.

The monarch also appreciated the Governor for using his managerial experience to bring a positive turnaround in all sectors of the state economy, while appealing to him not to relent in his quest to make life more comfortable for the masses.
