Our lives in danger — Adeyemi Bukola cries out for help

It was in the beginning of the month of May when myself, husband and two sons started receiving strange calls threatening to know our whereabouts, we were so worried that we had to buy a dog to strengthen security in the house.” These were the words of  53-year-old Mrs Adeyemi Bukola Comfort, mother of two grown up sons and wife of Mr. James Oladipipo Adeyemi while recounting her ordeal at the Obantoko Divisional Police station, Obantoko Abeokuta.

In a copy of the police report stamped and signed by one Mr. Alimeke Ignatius and made available to this reporter, it was gathered that Mr. James Oladipipo Adeyemi lived peacefully and happily with his family of two sons- Adedamola Olukunle Adeyemi, 30  and Adewunmi Alexandra Adeyemi 26- and wife Mrs Adeyemi Bukola Comfort, until the uneventful incident which occured  late in the night of the 3rd of June, 2022, at about 09:22pm, when unknown gunmen invaded their residence at No. 4 Crownfit D close, off Unity Estate, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Ogun state, in a very strong attempt to kidnap her husband and two sons who had just arrived from a church  program organised for men in our church.

“The assailants numbering about 3 had probably been on the trail of my husband’s car as they arrived at our premises just some minutes after my husband arrived. I had gone to the kitchen to fetch them something to eat while awaiting my last son who waited behind to lock the main gate. We were however surprised to see him being led to the sitting room by three hefty men who immediately ordered them to lie on their face.  I had to hide myself in one corner in our kitchen where I watched in fear as they churned out orders and threatened to kill the three of them if they fail to comply. When I heard one of them asking after me,  I immediately  sneaked out, tip-toeing through the kitchen exit to alert our neighbors who in turn alerted our local vigilante group who swung into action immediately.

Upon suspecting that some people were approaching our entrance, the armed men hurriedly escaped through the back door of our house in a way that suggested they had fore-knowledge of our apartment and environment.”

Bukola narrated while speaking to reporters.  Efforts to trace them by the local guards, she continued, proved abortive as the gunmen had disappeared into the thin air with no traces whatsoever.

A visibly dejected Bukola also disclosed that incessant strange calls of threat to all the members of the family has forced her husband to quickly relocate outside the country to seek refuge. She however said that the death threat and strange calls are not unconnected to the hundred hectares of land situated at Ilewo Orile Village in Abeokuta, Ogun state that her husband inherited from his assassinated father in 2019.

“We are pleading with the police authorities and all relevant security authorities to come to our rescue as my family is in serious danger,” Bukola concluded.
