Abimbola Abatta, Osogbo
The management of Osun United has lifted the suspension it placed on the team’s Head Coach, Bright Omokaro and two of his assistants, Bayo Adesina and Wole Animasahun as well as a player, Olusola Akilapa.
The decision to lift the suspension was taken on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 after the management’s meeting which was held at the Osogbo Township to review the club’s performance after the mid-season break declared by the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Recall that Nigerian NewsDirect reported that the trio were suspended on April 6, 2021 due to the club’s poor run of form while Olusola Akilapa’s case was hinged on gross indiscipline.
The management, while lifting the suspension charged the coaches to be up and doing and take the ‘Omoluabi Giants’ back to the winning form when the league resumes next weekend.
Akilapa was similarly advised to be more humble, patient and committed to the progress of the club at all times and avoid any act that can cause disharmony in the club.
During the one week suspension of the coaches, former captain of the club, Waheed Olapade popularly known as ‘Omoba’ acted in an interim capacity and led the team to its first clean sheet of the season following a goalless draw against FC Nilayo at Abeokuta in the week 11 fixtures.
Meanwhile, Osun United will host FC Nilayo on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Osogbo Township Stadium in the continuation of NNL.
