Osun to release teachers’ recruitment list

The Osun State Ministry of Education has announced that it is set to make public the list of successful applicants who scored a cumulative of 50 percent and above in the test and proficiency interview conducted for the recruitment of teachers in the state.

Making the announcement in Osogbo on Thursday, the Commissioner of Education, Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi, stated that the ministry had taken care to conduct the exercise in batches so as to ensure the sustainability of remuneration.

According to the statement, “The Ministry of Education informs the general public particularly applicants for the teachers’ recruitment exercise that the list of successful applicants who scored a cumulative of 50% and above in the test and proficiency interview conducted is ready.

“A total of 11,068 applicants participated in the interview out of which 3,170 applicants scored 50% (cumulative) and above.

“To ensure the sustainability of remuneration, the recruitment will be done in batches hence it is out of the 3170 applicants that the first combined list of 1000 most successful applicants will be drawn in 6 critical subjects of English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agriculture.

“This list will be out in the public domain by next week. Subsequent batches will follow later.”

Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state had criticised the state government on several occasions for playing politics with the teachers’ recruitment exercise.

The Osun PDP had also accused the state government of defrauding the candidates, directing it to refund the N3,000:00 that was collected from candidates if it was not going to go through with providing them with work as teachers in the state civil service.

The state government commenced the sale of teacher’s recruitment form for interested and qualified candidates in 2019 but the Coronavirus pandemic put a temporary stop to the process which was resuscitated in 2020 after the lockdown and restrictions were lifted.
