Osun SWAN lauds State Govt, seeks improved welfare of athletes, coaches

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Osun State Chapter has lauded the State Government of Osun for ensuring that the state takes part in this year’s National Sports Festival (NSF) holding in Edo state.

In a statement by the Chairman, Timothy Agbor and the Secretary, Tajudeen Amodu, Osun SWAN noted that this gesture was a testimony of government’s desire for sports development and a means of exposing talented Osun athletes to the world for national and international opportunities.

“We laud the state government for ensuring that Osun’s flag is hoisted in this year’s festival in Edo. This is an avenue for youth to showcase their talents for national recognition and we believe that with the budding talents presented by Osun, many of them will gatecrash into the national limelight.

“We therefore enjoined the state government to ensure that all athletes and their coaches are properly taken care of in terms of improved welfare packages, equipment among others.”

The association wished the athletes successful outing at the Sports Festival and also felicitated with its members on the celebration of Easter.

SWAN assured that the new leadership will do everything possible to contribute its quota to the promotion and development of sports in Osun State with a view to discovering raw talents.
