As efforts are put in place to install a new monarch in Ikirun, Osun State, stakeholders and indigenes of the community have been charged on peace.
This is just as the state government was urged to implore the kingmakers to ensure the peaceful ascension of a monarch that will place the town on the path of progress and development.
The Gboleru Ruling House made these known last Friday while presenting their candidate for the kingship stool, Prince Tajudeen Adesegun Adejumo Gboleru, a business analyst, project coordinator, and business owner.
It would be recalled that earlier this year, the former Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Olayiwola Adedeji II, joined his ancestors.
The spokesperson of the ruling house, Prince Gboyega Olatunji debunked the rumour making rounds that Gboleru is not ready to rule.
Prince Olatunji averred that the Gboleru has a suitable and qualified candidate who can vie for the post.
According to him, “The rumour is that Gboleru is not ready to rule, that we don’t have suitable candidates. We do. We have a suitable and qualified candidate.
“The Gboleru Ruling House believes that the next Akirun should be a man who is tested in all ramifications and has structured plan vision to develop Ikirun.
“For Tajudeen Adesegun Gboleru, CEO, Managing Director SDA GBOLERU FARMS NIGERIA LTD, Ikirun; Founder, The Mortgage Centre Canada Choice Financial Inc. Toronto, his decision to become the next Akirun is to improve the overall environment of the city and provide an improved environment that will support local businesses and local community life through education, employment opportunities, cultural and sporting assets, community services, healthcare, recreational activities, and infrastructure.”
He described Prince Segun Tajudeen Gboleru as a dynamic choice to turn the town into a resilient, liveable and inclusive city with a solid social, economic, human, and infrastructural base.
While suing for peace in the installation process, Olatunji said, “We call on all stakeholders including the kingmakers, Ikirun elders to call out those who are instigating an unholy process of installing a new king to consider the overall benefits of installing a competent person over their personal interest.
“We also call on the other two ruling houses to support a peaceful selection by cooperating with Gboleru Ruling House for the good of our land.”
