Osun residents assured of adequate security
…As tension rises over robbers’ invasion

Residents of Osun State have been assured of adequate security against fears and apprehension triggered by threats from fomenters of crime in the state.
They were equally urged to comport themselves and jettison fear of insecurity in the state.
Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode psc, said the above on Thursday through a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola.
This is coming after the residents of Ofatedo community in the state received a notice of intent to rob by an unknown group demanding a settlement of N20million fee to stop them from invading the community.
Following this, there has been tension in the community, resulting in residents vacating their apartments and business activities being paralysed.
The CP stated that, as part of the efforts to ensure the security of lives and properties in the state, the security architecture of the Police Command has been re-strategised and re-engineered.
According to Olokode, “This becomes imperative and necessitated by the threatening letter of invasion written to some communities in the state by some unscrupulous elements which the Police Command in collaboration with other security agents and local security outfits are working tooth and nail to arrest the criminals and brought them to book.”
He further urged the citizens to be security conscious, vigilant, cooperative with the security agents by reporting any suspicious movement or activities of criminals in their communities.

Meanwhile, in another development, the state government has allayed the
apprehension in the minds of residents of Ofatedo community and its environs over the current state of insecurity there.
The Government had deployed security agencies to the area to forestall any likely breakdown of law and order as well as to allay the fears and anxiety of the residents.
In a press release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, on Friday, “The State Government warns rumour mongers to desist from all acts that can lead to any breach of the peace the state is enjoying.”
