Osun Poly to begin issuing Unilorin, Unizik Award Degree
…Graduates over 14,000 students

The Rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr. Woye Olaniran has disclosed that the management of the institution is putting all efforts together to start issuing technical base award degrees by affiliating with the Ilorin and Nnamdi Azikwe universities.
According to him, “Efforts are in the top gear to affiliate the institution to Degree Awarding universities in Nigeria and beyond.”
Olaniran stated this while addressing journalists on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun state capital, at the press conference to kick start the activities of the combined 7th Convocation ceremony of the school.
The Rector said that over 14,000 students would be graduated from the 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020 in Nigeria Certificate In Education (NCE) technical base, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma of the institution.
Also, speaking on the unemployment rate bedeviling the country, he said polytechnics graduates are in a more advantageous position to get a job than their university counterparts because of their technical education.
He also said that those who are very rich in Nigeria today did not seek employment or white-collar jobs, citing the likes of Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote among others.
He noted that governments across the world encourage entrepreneurship.
He added that the purpose of education is not for only individual benefit but to keep society alive.
He, however, commended the present government under watch of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his tremendous support on prompt payment of salary of workers.
According to Olaniran, “It is not an overstatement to note that Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has witnessed tremendous developments since 1st July, 2019 when I took over the mantle of leadership as the Chief Executive Officer of the Polytechnic.
“My focus and commitment is to see to the upliftment of physical and educational standards of the institution. Since my appointment, the polytechnic has witnessed tremendous developments in infrastructure, students and staff welfare and academic standard.
“It is also on record that since my assumption of office, the institution has witnessed peace and tranquility. The polytechnic has not experienced any rift between the staff and management. This is as a result of regular payment of emoluments and allowances of all categories of staff as at when due.
“On 25th May 2022, Convocation lecture on a global trending issue, ‘Green Entrepreneurial Intentions and Business Sustainability in Post COVID-19 Pandemic Era: Issues and Challenges,’ to be delivered by a renowned Professor of Human Resources. The grand finale would be held on Thursday 26th May 2022 where Diplomas and certificates would be awarded to graduates.”
