Osun Police parade herbalist with human skull, armed robbers, others

Osun State Police Command on Tuesday paraded a 38-year-old herbalist, Semiu Oyewo over unlawful possession of a human skull.

Four notorious armed robbers, Sunday Olamiposi, 21, Olumide Ajayi, 20, Ife Micheal, 20, and Kamilu Adeoti, 24 were also paraded.

While parading the suspects, the State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, said the herbalist, Oyewo was apprehended along Ile-Ife/Ibadan road with one human skull, snail and voodoo.

“On July 7, 2021 around 8 am, the Police patrol team on routine highway patrol along Ile-Ife/Ibadan road, intercepted one Honda Accord vehicle with Reg. No. AGL 412 CD black colour driven by the suspect one Semiu Oyewo ‘m’ of Alamole area, Ondo road, Ile-Ife, searched the vehicle and recovered the exhibits.”

He said during investigation and interrogation, the suspect confessed that he is a herbalist and bought the suspected human skull from his co-herbalist one Ige ‘m’ aka Igwe of Apomu who had absconded.

“The said suspected human skull was bargained for twenty-five thousand naira only (N25, 000.00) while he paid twenty thousand naira only (N20, 000.00) with five thousand naira balance (N5, 000.00)

“The Police navigated its investigation to the house of the arrested suspected and recovered various ‘Juju’ and fetish items which they hid in the bush.”

Olokode further said the police, on July 1st, 2021, arrested a gang of notorious hoodlums who had been terrorising Ilesa/Osogbo and its environs.

According to the CP, the police busted the hideouts of the suspected armed robbers who had been planning to launch another attack at Halleluyah and Ido-Osun areas of Osogbo.

In his words, “Their modus operandi is that they move from one house to another with cutlasses and raping their female victims. Two of the four suspects have been identified by a score of victims residing at Halleluyah and Ido-Osun communities respectively.”

Also paraded are a gang of bag snatchers who were also attacking POS outlets.

The suspects Hammed Kehinde, 18, Musa Nurudeen, 19, Ibrahim Kazeem, 22, Ganiyu Musibau, 18 were arrested on July 5, 2021.

The Commissioner of Police said, “Upon a distress call on July 5, 2021, around 7:30 pm, that some suspected armed robbers are operating at Owode-Ede Area, the Police operatives from CP’s surveillance promptly moved to the scene, while the suspects were robbing the victim.

“On sighting the police, suspects took to their heels and the police chased and arrested them with a Boxer motorcycle with Reg. No. EDT 713 QE, used for the operation, also one handset and a handbag belonging to the victim were recovered from them.

“The suspects have been terrorizing Owode-Ede and its environs; snatching bags from unsuspecting victims and attacking POS shops/operators.

Five other suspects were also paraded for armed robbery, snatching of motorcycles, and cultism.

The police boss maintained that the suspects will be charged to court after investigations have been concluded.

He assured that the police will continue to make the state safe for residents as efforts are put in place to eradicate criminals activities.
