Osun: PDP not a violent party — Atiku/Okowa Campaign DG

By Ismail Azeez, Osogbo

The Chairman of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council for Osun, Hon Sunday Bisi, has denied the claims by opposition parties that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been unleashing violence on the people of the state, especially members of the APC.

Bisi, who described members of the ruling party in the State as peace loving, said APC resulted into blackmail having failed to secure the governor’s seat for second term.

Recall that Osun APC’s Director of Operations, Hon Sunday Akere had recently accused PDP of hiring hoodlums to unleash attacks on members of the APC.

He called on the founding fathers and other stakeholders in the State to intervene before the situation goes out of the hand.

Speaking at the flag-off campaign of a house of representatives candidate, Dr Moruf Adebayo, in Osogbo, on Thursday, the former PDP chairman said PDP is not a violent party, hence, the reason it took the mantle of leadership without any iota of violence during the July 16 gubernatorial election.

He said, “Our people be prepared for this coming general elections. Members of the People’s Democratic Party are peace loving. Our party is not a violent party. And that’s why we took the mantle of leadership in the state peacefully. July 16 gubernatorial election was won with the support of the people of the State without any violence.

“Our party relies on the civil servants, pensioners and good people of Osun state. You have been supporting us and we know that you’re still going to support us come 2023.”

Speaking, Adebayo  who is vying to represent Osogbo/Orolu/Olorunda/Irepodun Federal Constituency, promised adequate representation if he emerged victorious.

He assured “excellent representation, through sponsoring and supporting of bills that will impact positively on the people of my constituency. Facilitation of laudable federal projects to Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu federal constituency.

“Accessibility, through regular civic meetings: The best way a parliamentary representation can yield an excellent result is through effective community town hall meetings as and when due.

“We will put in place a strategic team to draw out a periodic and effective civic meetings and engagement across the federal constituency in a bid to set a benchmark for our developmental plans. We will take need assessment very seriously, because that is why we can meet exactly what the people truly needs.”
