Osun: NSCDC parades eight suspects over electricity theft, deploys 1,575 personnel for Easter celebration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, has arrested eight (8) suspects arrested in a sting operation with the officials of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company(IBDEC) at various locations in Osogbo, the State capital over electricity theft.

The State Commandant, Agboola Sunday, on Thursday said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday 5th April, 2023 at Ogo-Oluwa/Alekuwodo axis in Osogbo,  based on credible information of engaging in bypassing electricity supply to their residents to evade necessary payment.

Parading the suspects, Sunday disclosed that the Command is ready to curb activities of vandals, economic saboteurs in the State.

Saying that their actions amount to attempted suicide and revenue diversion, he reiterated that  there is zero tolerance for crime under his watch.

He promised readiness of men and officers of the Command to synergise with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBDEC) in curbing the state of those who vandalise critical national infrastructure.

The NSCDC boss also charged members of the public to desist from act capable of throwing the State into darkness and economic hardship.

However, he said the command has deployed over 1,575 personnel for a robust security arrangement and crime prevention during this year’s Easter celebration.

The Commandant said personnel have been emplaced on  major roads across the State, patrol teams and surveillance squads will cover critical national assets, worship centres, recreation centres, market places, motor parks, shopping malls for adequate security of lives and property.

On behalf of the entire officer, he heartily rejoiced with  Christians in the State as they celebrate this year’s Easter.

He encouraged Christians to propagate peace, demonstrate love forgiveness and tolerance irrespective of religious affiliation.

Sunday also enjoined members of the public to be security conscious and report any strange movement in their environment to security agencies.
