Osun launches Govt Enterprise, Empowerment Programme

As part of the efforts to empower under-privileged citizens and vulnerable people, Osun State Government has flagged off the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP)–2.0.
At the opening ceremony of the step down training of the GEEP-2.0 held at Abere on Monday, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola charged local government Desk Officers on diligence and effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
Governor Oyetola who was represented at the training by the State Focal Person on National Social Investment Programme, Lukman Abimbola Bello, said the training of restructured GEEP 2.0 targets under-privileged citizens and most vulnerable people in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
He added that the GEEP-2.0 is meant to give special consideration to women (widows, divorcees) youths, (orphans, out of school children, artisans) and farmers, (agricultural workers in rural areas).
He noted that the activities of the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) in Osun towards the newly restructured Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) is implemented by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, under the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) held at the H/Q of National Orientation Agency, Osun.
The Governor, added that at the commencement, registration shall be done in each of the NOA offices across the 30 Local Government Areas in the state. He, added that beneficiaries under trader money will be given a loan of N50,000.00, Market money, N50,000.00 while Farmers money beneficiaries will be given agric input in the sum of N300,000.00.
He, further announced that registration and disbursement will be announced in line with the stipulated schedule from the federal and that Osun government shall put in efforts to ensure that youth and vulnerable in the state benefit immensely from this program.
