The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi has said the state is on the verge of becoming a huge hydrological center of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) where new ideas will flow into other states of the federation in no distant time.
Hon. Olawumi also said the world is at a stage where data and pictures complement teaching for proper understanding by students, stressing that teachers must henceforth have proper ICT knowledge as an average student takes joy in exploring the internet.
The SA said the above while declaring open a two-day training workshop on ICT for some selected teachers in the State and Local Government.
He added that the present administration in the state has decided to migrate into the 21st century learning because the future will be successful for those who plan for it, hence the need to continue to give qualitative education through ICT.
Olawumi stressed that such training became important so as to transform the narrative for both the present and future generations of the state, explaining that any society that does not prepare for the future that will be technologically driven might find it hard to grow.
While imploring the teachers to make the best use of the training opportunity, Olawumi said the experience will no doubt assist the teachers to interact with their students better and improve learning.
In his words, “The importance of ICT trainings such as this can not be overemphasized, the world is fats going technological and as a state we don’t want to be left behind. We don’t want our future generation to be left behind that’s why the present administration is investing so much into this.
“I implore our teachers to take this opportunity very seriously because it will no doubt improve their teaching skills and also give their pupils better understanding.”
