Osun Govt wades in Ile-Ife/Modakeke dispute, warns against violence

The Osun State Government has intervened in the disputes between communities in Ile-Ife and Modakeke, Osun State.
NewsDirect reports that there has been incessant crisis in the villages as no fewer than three villagers have been killed on their farm.
At a meeting with community leaders of Ile-Ife and Modakeke on Wednesday, Governor Ademola Adeleke who spoke through his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi expressed concern over killings that erupt in Yekemi, kere,Toro, Alapata and other villages.
The Governor called on the community leaders and farmers in the two communities not to shield crimes as the present administration will not allow any form of sabotage that will hinder its efforts at ensuring peace cohabitation between Ile-Ife and Modakeke people.
Adeleke further pledged that the state government would work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that those perpetrating evils are brought to book.
He however warned the hoodlums tormenting the peace of the Ile-Ife and Modakeke people to stop henceforth or be ready to face the unpalatable consequences of law.
Representatives of the two communities including Baales, religious leaders and farmers in their remarks also appealed to the state government to work on the jurisdiction of the two towns and beef up security at the villages known with notorious criminal acts.
