Osun Govt reaffirms commitment to prioritising agriculture

The Osun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising agriculture as a key sector to boost the economy.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Osun State, Hon. Tola Faseru said that the present administration under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke has implemented various initiatives to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity in the state.

Faseru stated that Governor Adeleke has put some efforts in construction of roads and bridges linking to farms across the three senatorial districts for farmers to be able to transport their farm products to the urban areas.

He further explained that the Governor has put some necessary measures in place to support farmers in the state through the distribution of farm inputs such as fertilisers, and chemicals to contribute meaningfully to the state’s food security.

According to him, “ Agriculture is very important to us and His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, if you look through his five points agenda you will see that agriculture and industrialisation take top position.

“Since the inception of this administration, we have been working to assiduously to ensure that we make life comfortable for the farmers to be able to provide food for the  people.

“We provide access roads for farmers across the three senatorial districts in the state to facilitate transportation of their farm products to the urban areas.

“The administration has constructed many roads and bridges linking the one farm settlement. Many times we have distributed farm input, fertilisers, and chemicals to farmers.

“We also supported the butchers in a number of ways. Not too long, we gave them registration files. We work with them closely to ensure that the veterinary department makes sure the meat we eat in Osun is hygienic.

“Mr Governor has given the proposal to have more abattoirs across the state a pat in the back. We have distributed oil palm equipment for oil palm processing machines

“We have been nursing the cashew and cocoa seedlings which will be given to farmers in the state,” he said.
