No fewer than 100 farmers have been empowered by Osun State Government as part of the efforts to reposition agriculture and tackle unemployment in the state.
During the distribution exercise, livestock farmers received 2000 day-old chicks, feed-mills, vaccines and drugs.
The initiative is anchored under the Osun Broilers Outgrowers Production Scheme (OBOPS-III), aimed to eliminate poverty and enhance production capacity of the livestock farmers in the State.
While flagging off the distribution exercise in Ede, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Dayo Adewole said the initiative was designed to support farmers, particularly youth and women.
Adewole who was represented by the Director of Livestock Services, Osun Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Amos Daramola, described the initiative as a veritable tool to eliminate poverty, hunger and the scourge of unemployment in the State.
In their remarks, the beneficiaries lauded Governor Oyetola’s efforts at revitalising the State’s agricultural sector through numerous interventions and implementation of farmers-friendly policies.
