Osun Govt denies rumours of Commissioner defections

The Osun State government has dismissed rumours of planned defections by some commissioners in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s cabinet as baseless and false.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Commissioners’ Forum and Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa Asejere, the government refuted claims circulated by the opposition APC. According to Asejere, the rumours suggested that four commissioners were preparing to leave the current administration and join the opposition party.
“The attention of the state government has been drawn to yet another warped and outlandish mischief and propaganda, concocted by the opposition APC party and its members in Osun State,” the statement read. “It is claimed that four of our present commissioners are planning to switch their political allegiance to APC. This is entirely untrue.”
Asejere emphasised that, despite their usual reluctance to respond to opposition claims, the commissioners felt compelled to issue a rebuttal to prevent public misinformation. “The need to insulate the public, especially the supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke, from being misinformed by such deliberate mischief prompted this response,” he said.
The statement reaffirmed the commissioners’ commitment to Governor Adeleke and his leadership, declaring that they stand “as solid as the rock of Gibraltar” behind him. “All commissioners in the present Osun State Executive Council remain firmly supportive of Sen. Ademola Adeleke and his leadership,” Asejere asserted.
The commissioners also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and their ongoing loyalty to both the governor and the PDP.
“We pledge our loyalty and appreciate the chance given by Governor Adeleke and our party (PDP) to serve Osun State diligently,” the statement noted.
Asejere also highlighted the positive changes under Adeleke’s administration, noting efforts to transform Osun from a civil service state into a prosperous region. He warned against political manoeuvres aimed at destabilising the current administration, stating that “no amount of political intrigue by the opposition will shake our resolve.”
The statement concluded with a call for continued public support for the Adeleke administration.
“We urge all supporters of good governance in Osun State to continue cooperating with the current administration to make a significant difference,” Asejere said, contrasting the current administration’s achievements with the previous APC government’s tenure.
