Osun State Governor- elect Senator Ademola Adeleke has inaugurated a 37-man transition committee ahead of the official hand-over to the new government in November 27.
The committee, led by Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji was inaugurated on Thursday at the Imole House, Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo, the state capital.
The committee, which consists of 37 members, has the Director-General of Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Hon. Sunday Bisi as Deputy Chairman, while serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon Bamidele Salam as its secretary.
In his speech, Governor-elect, Senator Adeleke congratulated the people of Osun state on the successful conduct of the governorship election.
He said that his administration will be the government that benefit all the residents of the state.
“We are ready to meet the desires of our people. We are equipped with requisite skills and determination to meet the challenges ahead.”
He charged the committee members to start work in earnest as their tasks are sensitive and time bound.
According to him, “The committee will ascertain the state of finance of the state including funds from the federation allocation account, internally generated revenue, grants and other sources of income.
“They interface with individuals and groups with valuable information on the governance of Osun State.
“They will ascertain the level of indebtedness of the state and Local Governments and the terms of repayment of such debt.
“The committee will examine the present structure, finance, effectiveness of local government in Osun State and make appropriate recommendations.
“They will obtain/collate information on movable and immovable assets of the state government. To critically examine and review all agreements, MOUs and other legal instruments entered into by the outgoing administration with contractors, consultants, banks, etc. and make appropriate recommendations,” he added.
