A member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babatunde Ayeni on Wednesday, organised a special prayer session for Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s reelection bid ahead of the July 16 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
Ayeni, who is representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency, during the special prayer, held at his constituency office in Ilesa, equally showed his Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms to thousands of his supporters.
The lawmaker, who had recently launched a campaign team, “Honourable Ayeni for Oyetola,” said that the re-election of the state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola is ordained by God.
Ayeni said the great work Oyetola’s administration has done in the length and breadth of the state would also work in his favour for his second term bid.
He said he had over the times embarked on monthly prayers for the progress of the state and the growth of the APC, adding that, “Today we decided to have a special prayer for the second term bid of our amiable Governor, Gboyega Oyetola who is contesting for a second term in office.”
He described the achievements of the Governor within his first term in office as a pointer to further greatness in the state and charged the electorate to reconsider him for reelection.
He used the prayer session to declare his intention to run for another term, but saying what was paramount to him as of present is the re-election bid of the Governor whom he said had done tremendously well in the development of the state.
“I used to have prayer every month but this one is unique. Why it’s unique is that we are about to start campaign for our able Governor any moment from now. We just have to commit everything into the hand of God.
“This time around, it might be somehow ettic and anything that’s happening concerning political issues needed to be committed into the hands of God.
“We organised the prayer in order to pray for the success of our amiable Governor comes July 16 as there is nothing one can do without committing it into the hands of God.
“We are about to start campaign and if you could remember, about two weeks ago, we launched “Honourable Ayeni for Oyetola.”
“And second one is that, in the next two days, the Nomination Form will close and I want my people to know that I’m still in the race though, I’m not starting my own campaign until after the governorship election but I want people to know that their candidate has collected the form and by the grace of God I will submit the form.
“I’m not starting my campaign yet and it’s not that I’m declaring yet because we still have a project before each and everyone one us
“That Election is July 16 in the state , so after July 16 I will now declare but because of Electoral Law, our party said any aspirant who is aspiring to run must collect form and I have collected and by the grace of God I will submit accordingly.” He said
He, however, urged all his Supporters and members of “Honourable Ayeni for Oyetola” to start campaign rigorously across the nooks and crannies of gis Constituency saying no supporter should stay home and start shouting Oyetola is doing well without canvasing for his election on the field.
Speaking on the alarm raised by a Chieftain of the PDP in Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanya Ominrin, that the ruling party is planning to harass their member, Ayeni described him as a jester who is trying to twist the story in their favour.
“The man is a jeter, he’s just trying to twist the story and when the time comes we will come out and tell the people what he has been trying to do.
“Although, the security agencies are on top of the situation over there. If he knows that he cannot win Election peacefully he shouldn’t have started saying another thing entirely.
“We are not going to leave any stone unturned. We know him and know what he can do and that’s why government is watching and security agencies are watching. As time goes on, we would know who is instigating crisis. He’s trying to twist the story upside down and trying and reverse the story,” he said.
