The former Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Gubernatorial aspirant, Prince Dotun Babayemi has described his expulsion from the party as long-drawn script by some few greedy lord in the party.
He said that he remain in PDP with his teeming supporters across the length and breadth of the State.
Babayemi emerged the governorship candidate of the party in a parallel congress primary held at the Wocdif event Centre, Osogbo, against the approved venue (Osogbo township stadium) by the PDP National working Committee.
On Friday, the Ward Executive members of Otun Balogun 2, Ayedaade local government area of the State, announced the expulsion of Babayemi at a press conference held at the party Secretariat, Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Reading the address on behalf of the Ward EXCO, the Secretary of the Ward, Ogunleye Bukayo said the factional governorship candidate was expelled as a result of a petition filed against him by some party members.
“The Ward Executive Committee of the party at its meeting of 20th July, 2022 received the report of the disciplinary committee, and after careful and extensive deliberations ratified the report of the disciplinary committee.
“The Ward Executive Committee of the Party in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 57(2) and 59 (1) (g) of the constitution of PDP hereby remove and expel Prince Dotun Babayemi from the Peoples Democratic Party. He therefore ceases to be a member of the PDP henceforth.”
Babayemi had been looking for ways to get court Judgement to nullify the primary election that produced Senator Ademola Adeleke as the gubernatorial candidate of the party.
Babayemi’s lost his case at the state high court as well as the appeal court.
He, however, headed to the Supreme Court to seek redress for his case against Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Reacting, Babayemi said, “My purported expulsion carried out by some surrogates has been a long-drawn script by some few greedy lord of the manor who don’t feel comfortable with people like us who have decided to challenge them for the good of Osun and its people. Don’t forget, I’m not alone in this journey; I have respected leaders and elders of the party behind me.
“Seriously, it contradicts logic that some people within the party in their wisdom or lack of it always like to ruffle feathers for their selfish interests and sinister motives. We know them and their antics. They came out with this latest shenanigans they called expulsion when they failed on other deadly fronts.
“As for me and those supporting me, we remain undaunted and unfazed. We are very much in the PDP,” he said.
